Database Usage Guide & Architecture

1. Data Blocks (What?)

The platform structures its scientific resources into three distinct modules to ensure optimal management and utilization of Terahertz (THz) parameters:

Material Properties Block (Dielectric Data)

This module provides a search and filtering tool for dielectric data, featuring an interactive visualization space to manipulate electromagnetic curves.

Key Feature (Overlay): The interface integrates an "overlay" functionality, giving the user the ability to dynamically superimpose multiple electromagnetic curves to compare different samples.

Raw Data Block & Machine Learning

This block is dedicated to a search and filtering interface for measurement results before processing, allowing for direct downloads of the archives.

AI & Machine Learning Enhancement: Beyond human analysis, the highly structured nature of these datasets provides a rigorous, standardized foundation for Machine Learning algorithms, accelerating AI-driven materials discovery and predictive modeling.

Technical Ingestion (Chunking): To bypass memory limitations on shared servers, heavy files are divided and processed in successive batches through a chunking algorithm.

THz Images Block

Designed as an interactive gallery, this space allows users to visually consult image libraries, search, filter, and download the corresponding raw data matrices. Page loading is optimized through mandatory thumbnails and lazy loading to reduce network impact.

2. Roles and Authorizations (Who?)

Access to the platform is strictly controlled, and security is implemented directly at the database level with strict integrity constraints.

Public Guest

Represents the broader scientific community. They navigate the platform to search and visualize public data without requiring authentication.

Authenticated User

Refers to authenticated researchers who have the necessary authorizations to download data and upload new raw measurements or THz images. They have a personal workspace to manage their own contributions autonomously.

Administrator

Supervises the platform by validating imported data and managing user access.

3. Data Lifecycle & Validation Flow (How?)

To ensure the quality of scientific publications, new data goes through a strict validation flow before being published:

1. Import & Identification

Researchers import their measurements into their personal space. A Custom ID is automatically generated during importation to serve as a standardized technical reference.

2. Isolation & Validation

The submitted measurements are isolated and placed on hold. An automated email notification system alerts the administrator, who can visualize and then accept or reject the data.

3. Public Release

Once validated, the data is publicly published online and becomes accessible to the broader research community on the Dashboard.
